Should I Get an E-Reader, IPad or Something Similar?
Electronic document readers are everywhere now. I still don't have one, but, lately, I've been thinking about this again.
There are so many different kinds available on the market today. At first, if you got one of these in the early days, such as a Kindle, all you could do with this device was read E-Books. Now you have devices called tablets that can be used to read electronic books but they can also do more. Even a lot of the smart phones can be used to read E-Books.
I started thinking about the pros and cons of the types of these devices.
Would I like one more than the other?
Does it really benefit me to have something like the IPad so that I can use it to do some stuff that I normally do on my laptop?
Will it really be a problem to pack both my laptop and one of these devices when I travel?

Adorable Bookmarks Shaped Like Angels!
I'm always looking for unique bookmarks to give as gifts to my book lover friends and these are definitely something they would love!
These adorable Angel shaped bookmarks come in a set of six. They have a very detailed but simple design which is very pleasing to the eye. The added tassel made of cloth adds that extra special little detail that sets these bookmarks apart from others.
What's even cooler is that each bookmark is packed in it's own gift box. No wrapping necessary! Just give each one to six of your favorite book lovers or, perhaps, keep one for yourself and give the rest away! That's what I'm going to do!

Comfy Sleep Shirt for People that Love Books!
I love to be comfortable when I start reading one of my favorite books and this sleep shirt fits my needs perfectly!
I don't need to worry about getting the wrong size since this shirt only comes in one size and fits most people. The embroidered details on it let's everyone know that you love books and is an adorable method of decoration. This shirt even has many famous author names imprinted in the material and is machine washable.
I have somewhat sensitive skin so, for me, it's an added benefit that this nightshirt is made of cotton - no skin irritation for me! What more could I want? How about a cup of hot chocolate, the time to curl up in my comfy sleep shirt and one of my favorite books!

Book Lover's Dream - Time Enough to Read
Reading is a passion for many of us and, if you're like me, there's never enough time to read to my heart's content.
We all have daily responsibilities that must take priority in our lives. Finding the time to read any book is sometimes very difficult and frustrating especially if you're currently reading one that's a page turner. We've all been there one time or another. We just want the time to finish that book!
This thought reminded me of a "Twilight Zone" episode - "Time Enough at Last". This episode aired on November 20, 1959 during the first season. Of course, I didn't see the episode when it originally aired, but thanks to reruns, I've seen this many times and it's one of my favorites.
In this episode, Henry Bemis (Burgess Meredith) is a bank teller who is also a bookworm. He loves to read and actually does this while he is supposed to be working. Of course, he gets in trouble for this, but reading is his passion.
One day during his lunch break, he goes to the bank vault and continues reading a book. While in the bank vault, a bomb explodes and destroys almost everything! Bemis survives since the thick walls of the bank vault protected him.
Confused and dismayed at the destruction, Bemis has a thought of hope and excitement when he notices that many of the books from the library nearby have also survived the blast. Finally, he has all the time in the world to read to his heart's content!
Of course, "Twilight Zone" is known for its ironic plots and this episode is no exception. Bemis is very near-sighted and has to wear very thick glasses to see. The ironic twist in this episode is that when Bemis finally has not only the time to read and plenty of books to last a life time, he accidentally breaks the lens in his glasses. When this occurs, the despair felt by Bemis is also felt by all book lovers watching this episode.
Imagine that you could no longer read books for whatever reason. How would you feel?
I found this episode on YouTube and thought I would share it on this post. This isn't the original video, but I think it's pretty cool how the person who loaded the video has the episode showing on an old RCA TV.

Books that are Made into Movies - The Martian
I just went to see the movie "The Martian" and I really liked it. I liked it enough that I'll probably buy it on Blu-Ray when it becomes available.
I'm a big Science Fiction fan and have been disappointed in many of the recent books and movies that are available. It just seems like most movies today are remakes. Nothing original. New Sci-Fi books have been very hard to find and I was beginning to wonder if any good ones were ever coming out in the near future.
We actually stumbled upon the book and had never heard of the author, Andy Weir, but the description of the book sounded intriguing and it was a Sci-Fi book. Definitely wouldn't hurt to get it and give it a read.
What can I say except this was one of the best books that I've read in a long time! It was one of those books that was a page turner and I just didn't want to put it down. It's really been a long time since I've read a book like that and since you're a book lover too, you know exactly what I'm talking about.
I found it even more interesting that the author, Andy Weir, originally made his novel available on his website as a free series. He then made it available on Kindle for 99 cents since Amazon wouldn't let him offer it for free. I'm glad he did this since this is probably the reason his novel was noticed and put into publication.
I've read a lot of books that have been made into movies and most times the movies are disappointing. When you're reading a book and are captivated, that book takes you on a journey and your mind is filled with imagination, which is such a wonderful adventure. It is very rare when the movie can capture the essence of a book better than your imagination, which is why I love to read books.
This book, "The Martian", is very accurate in it's depiction of the technical aspects, but is written in such a way that these details are not over whelming for the reader. In fact, I think that most people would probably enjoy reading this book. You don't have to be a Sci-Fi fan to enjoy the adventure, the humor and the frightening thought of being accidentally abandoned on a desolate planet.
It is so refreshing to find a new author who writes books in a genre that I love so dearly. I'll definitely be waiting for his next book to be published. I sure hope it's available soon!
